Why RC?
Remote control (RC) cars have long been a popular toy, but few realize that they can also spark an interest in engineering and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) for young children. I had RC cars growing up and I enjoyed them a ton but I never engaged with them beyond jumping them off ramps and sliding them around our driveway.
Vision Corsa is focused on using RC cars to spark interest in motorsport and the STEM fields that support it; all the way from RC cars to Formula 1.
Dedicated RC tracks aren’t particularly plentiful in Minnesota so when they get built, they’ve been making some headlines. We want to bring more opportunities to drive these cars to communities in the state, either at purpose built tracks or as part of other events.
From building or optimizing their own RC cars to taking them around tracks in racing events or competitions, we’re aiming for kids to lead their own experience. Maybe some only want to drive and others only want to tweak the suspension architecture before handing the controls over to their friend. Sounds like a good environment to me.
RC cars are our initial focus for a couple reasons:
They have one of the lowest barriers to entry of any field of motorsport, both in terms of expertise and cost.
They’re faithful first steps to engage with the concepts of driving and engineering, meaning that it can be as complicated or as simple as you want to make it.
Using RC cars is an engaging way to introduce kids to the exciting twin worlds of motorsport and STEM. If you’re interested in partnering with us to bring this model to your community, I encourage you to visit our partnerships page and drop us a note.
Onward. Together. Always.
