Vision Corsa and the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona

I just finished watching the coverage of the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, a brilliant curtain-raiser for motorsport in 2023, about half an hour ago. A couple lessons stand out that reinforce Vision Corsa’s mission.

  1. Events like this provide such a rich tapestry of the things we love in sport. Narrative, winning, losing, fighting until the end, mistakes, heroics…a story told for 24 hours of non-stop racing.

  2. While it’s grueling for the drivers and the teams, this is a great entry point for anyone to pay a little attention. You don’t need to be an expert and picking a team to root for doesn’t require research. (I like Mercedes sports cars…guess how I pick who to follow.)

But most of all, what strikes me most is the WONDER. The more interested you become, the greater your rewards. Today, I’m marveling at how two different teams in two different cars with two different sets of drivers raced each other for 24 HOURS and they crossed the line 0.016 seconds apart.

Doesn’t that blow your mind?

Vision Corsa isn’t running any 24 hour races. Our organization really doesn’t care if you tune in to Formula 1, endurance racing, rally, or none at all. But let’s open the doors to motorsport for as many people as possible, make it more accessible, make it more inclusive. We’ll do it with remote control cars in your communities and you’ll take it from there.

Plus, when your remote control car rips across the finish line at a track in your local park, it’s going to feel a little bit more like some drivers in Florida feel today than you might expect.

Onward. Together. Always
