Lessons From Motorsport: Courage

If you pay any attention to motorsport, you can’t turn your head without someone referencing courage. Almost always, they’re talking about the courage of the drivers to push a car to the limit, carry a ton of speed through a fast corner, try an overtake up the inside of a competitor’s car.

There’s no doubt it takes courage to do all of that.

We love to see that and we’ll encourage anyone who’s racing one of our RC cars to drive with courage and test their limits. But when we talk about courage, we’re talking mostly about what happens off-track.

On our Values page, this is what we say about Courage:

“Cultivating smart risk-taking and trying new things to bring better results.”

We’re not talking about racing. We’re talking about an approach to this work and an approach to life. Vision Corsa wants to take risks and will encourage risk-taking, so long as it’s in line with all our values.

But it’s the second half of that value that’s the most important - trying new things to bring better results.

Sometimes a 2 percent gain is the best you can do. You can put in a good day, use the tools that have worked before, and…it’s 2 percent.

But don’t let that be your aim.

Swing big. Try something different. Pursue vitality.

And above all, do it while being you.

Onward. Together. Always.
